Did It Land?

Start with what people should do differently, and you'll know whether your teaching worked.

Before the session

Think about

“How do you currently know whether your teaching worked?”

We’ll try out what you made, then sort what counts as evidence that teaching worked (and what doesn’t).

Then you’ll rewrite your session’s learning outcomes, check everything lines up, and plan what happens next.

To show what you made, you’ll open your link on a computer. Not sure how? The computer task sheet walks you through it.

By the end you will have

  1. Sorted evidence from a teaching programme by what it actually shows, from delivered to changed.
  2. Rewritten one to three outcomes for your session using verbs someone could observe.
  3. Matched each outcome to evidence at the right level, and checked your slides and activity line up with it.
  4. Completed your design canvas, with a 30/60/90-day follow-through plan, a named person and the support you need from them.

After the session Your commitment
“Your completed canvas, plus one named person who will hold you to it, and the support you've agreed you need from them.”
  1. Photograph your completed canvas, or keep the paper copy somewhere you'll see it.
  2. Tell your named person what you're changing, and the support you need from them.
  3. At 30 and 90 days, expect three short questions: what did you change, what happened, what got in the way?

Delivered isn't changed. Attendance lists, smile sheets and photos show a session happened. Only what people do afterwards shows it worked.
Your verb decides your evidence. You can't see someone 'be aware of' something. Use verbs you can observe: explain, demonstrate, decide.
Line it up. Your outcome, your activity and how you check it should all show the same performance.
Plan the follow-through. Decide what you'll revisit at 30, 60 and 90 days, who will hold you to it, and what you need from them.
